TerraCycle FAQ

1. What is TerraCycle Plant Food?

TerraCycle Plant Food is liquefied worm poop made out and waste and packaged in waste. Worms are fed compost in order to produce excrement. That excrement is then liquefied and packaged in used 20-oz. and 2-liter soda bottles, collected from schools and non-profit organizations across the U.S. and Canada. Some of the spray tops are from old Windex bottles while cardboard boxes for shipping are misprints from other companies.

2. Where is TerraCycle Plant Food sold, and how can I locate a retailer near me that sells these products?

Locate retailers selling TerraCycle Plant Food online at www.terracycle.net. TerraCycle products are found in both big box stores such as Wal-Mart and Home Depot plus independent nursery and garden centers across both the U.S. and Canada.

3. What makes TerraCycle Plant Food different from other plant fertilizers on the market?

There are many characteristics about TerraCycle Plant Food that set it apart from the rest. First, the plant food is 100% organic and made entirely out of worm poop, meaning there is never a danger that it will burn plants. Second, the plant food is packaged in all reused and recycled materials, saving the planet from additional unnecessary trash heaps.

4. How do I use TerraCycle Plant Food?

TerraCycle Plant Food is the easiest gardening product to use at home. Whether an experienced or inexperienced gardener, no one can mess up this goof-proof application. Just take the TerraCycle Plant Food of choice and either spray directly onto plant leaves or pour onto soil. And always remember to water the plants. The plant food will take care of the rest.

5. How many varieties of TerraCycle Plant Food are available?

Currently, there are four products available in stores: the All-Purpose 20-oz. and 2-liter plant foods, the African Violet 20-oz. plant food and the Orchid 20-oz. plant food. In January and February 2007, TerraCycle will launch an expanded collection including a biodegradable seed starter that can be planted directly into the ground and contains 100% worm poop, a lawn fertilizer concentrate (the first organic one to be sold in big box stores) and a garden fertilizer concentrate with hose-top attachments, additional plant foods (Herb, Tomato, Rose, Tropical and Cactus) and potting soils (All-Purpose, African Violet, Cactus and Seed Starting).

6. Is TerraCycle available for commercial or customer use?

At the moment, TerraCycle products are made for customer use and do not come in larger sizes. If the current and new products sell well in stores then TerraCycle plans to offer bigger packages which could be used in commercial environments.

7. Where does TerraCycle find all the used soda bottles for its products?

Used 20-oz. and 2-liter soda bottles are collected through the ‘Bottle Brigade’ program which distributes collection bins to various schools and non-profit organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada. The bottles are then shipped back to TerraCycle where they are utilized in the production process of our items. So far over one million used soda bottles have been collected from over 1400 locations.
