Dr. Joe Willis

Director of Plant Research

Dr. Willis earned a B.S. in botany from North Carolina State University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside. Dr. Willis has over twenty years of experience in plant research and crop production. This experience includes work and studies in microbiology, plant pathology, plant physiology, molecular biology, genetics, bioengineering, and controlled environmental agriculture. Most recently, Dr. Willis spent more than five years in research pertaining to self-sustaining biosystems (aquaculture, hydroponics, vermicomposting, etc.) and alternative energy sources emphasizing maximum resource utilization with minimal environmental impact and near zero waste production. Dr. Willis will concentrate on Terracycle’s product testing and development research.
