Elaine Gaughran

VP Human Resources

Elaine comes to TerraCycle with over 30 years of professional experience in all aspects of Human Resources Management including compensation, benefits, staffing, stock plans, and performance management. She is also skilled at HR merger and acquisition activities, outsourcing, vendor management, culture change, retention management, change management, organizational design, and HR start-up.

Most of her career was spent in the Telecommunications Industry beginning at Bell Laboratories then moving on to AT&T and Telcordia Technologies. Her first experience in a start-up company was at the divestiture of AT&T. She was selected to be the Director of Human Resources for a new AT&T company called the National Exchange Carrier Association (NECA). Out of all of her career experiences, Elaine says that building the HR organization for NECA was by far the most challenging, exciting and rewarding experiences of her career. She is looking forward to that opportunity again at TerraCycle.

Elaine was then recruited by Summit Bank to be the SVP-Director of Compensation and Benefits where she provided the vision, strategy and leadership in redesigning all compensation, benefits and perquisite programs. At Summit Bank, she was selected to be in the first group of 25 employees to attend Summit's Executive Leadership and Succession Program. After the sale of Summit to Fleet Bank, Elaine was recruited by United Water to be the VP Compensation, Benefits and HRIS where she was responsible for developing competitive compensation and benefits strategies and programs to prepare the company for significant culture change and growth.

Elaine has a BA in Psychology from Rutgers University and a MA in Human Resources Management from the New School University in NYC. She is a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), and holds a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification.
