Ashleigh Smith
Ashleigh Smith is a currently an honors senior in graphic design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) anticipating her BFA in graphic design in the Spring of 2008. Her interests in social, economical, and environmental issues are a major focus of her work as a student and career aspirations. Some of Ashleigh's biggest influences have been in her international travels, specifically to India and South Africa where she developed a passion for hands-on work and effective design solutions to world problems.
Also a freelance graphic designer, Ashleigh does work for her local community — both at school in Rhode Island and in New Jersey — as well as nonprofit work for an AIDS orphanage in the East Cape of South Africa. Reflective but adventurous, Ashleigh is proud of her love of jumping off and out of things including an airplane and the world's highest bungee-jumping spot, however she is simply waiting for the opportunity to jump out of a cake.
Ashleigh's work ethic, love for design and world issues have gotten her a solid position on RISD's dean's list, department awards, and great community acknowledgement and she plans to continue designing with further success.
