TerraCycle Trenton Conversion Center
TerraCycle is headquartered in the heart of the Urban Enterprise Zone in Trenton, NJ. What was a run-down, inner-city building is now a rejuvenated, 'hip' conversion center where we liquefy worm poop and bottle it directly in used soda bottles.
Short history of Trenton
Trenton is best known as the setting for one of the most important events in America's battle for independence. Many believe Washington's crossing of the Delaware on Christmas night 1776 and surprise victory over the Hessian troops in Trenton was the turning point in America's fortunes.
During the early 1900's Trenton was one a major center of the American Industrial revolution, housing companies such as Roebling Steel. The city adopted the slogan "Trenton Makes, The World Takes" in the 1920s to represent Trenton's leading role at the time as a major manufacturing center for steel, rubber, wire, rope, linoleum and ceramics.
Trenton has faced a series of challenges in the second half of the 20th Century. A manufacturing decline in the1950's, race riots in the 1970's, and the emergence of gangs such as the Bloods and the Cripts, have all proved difficult for the city to overcome.

Why Trenton?
Today Trenton has a high unemployment rate and is one of the poorest cities in North America. However because of this, Trenton is an ideal location for manufacturing and is even more ideal for an eco-capitalist corporation such as TerraCycle.
In Trenton, we found reasonably priced real estate. In Trenton, we found a conscientious, and hard working workforce. These factors have allowed us to grow our business rapidly and with a small budget.
Everyday America loses more and more of its manufacturing jobs to China and other global competitors. Cities such as Trenton, Camden and other ‘iron ladies of industry' are highly undervalued by today's businesses. In fact, however, they are ideal locations for "Made in America" manufacturing.

We would recommend Trenton to any corporation; and from the bottom of our hearts, we thank the people of Trenton for helping TerraCycle "Grow a Better World" one bottle at a time!

Graffiti Art
Imagination is a core value for all of us at TerraCycle. We believe strongly in creativity and the expression of that creativity through everything we do. To that end, we are doing our small part to evolve Graffiti arts from a social negative (illegal tagging of public property) into a social positive (a celebration of fine art). That is why we have opened up every one of our walls to graffiti artists from all over North America to come down and freely express themselves at no cost.
