Top 5 Brigade Questions

Question: If I request "SEND ME A SHIPPING LABEL", how long does it take to receive my labels?

Answer: Your labels will be shipped to you via the United States Postal Service (USPS) in approximately 2 weeks. However, shipping times may vary by location. If it has been more than 14 days since you signed up, please contact TerraCycle using the form below.

Question: What are the shipping requirements?

Answer: For the pre-paid UPS mailers we encourage you to fill the express pack with the following quantities:

  • Drink Pouch Brigade – minimum of 100 drink pouches
  • Cookie Wrapper Brigade – minimum of 50 cookie wrappers
  • Energy Bar Brigade- minimum of 100 energy bar wrappers
  • Cell Phone Brigade – minimum of 25 cell phones
  • Toasted Chips – minimum of 15 toasted chips bags
  • Bear Naked Brigade – minimum of 50 bear naked wrappers/bags
  • Frito-Lay Brigade – minimum of 50 chip bags
  • Cork Brigade – please use a recycled box to accommodate appropriately the number of corks you have collected.
  • Stonyfield Brigade – Stack cups inside of each other to ship in high volumes
  • Kashi- There are three shipping options:
    • Fold up cartons, liners and bar wrappers as tightly as possible, and place them into the shipping bag.
    • Or, choose the largest carton you have, fold all other cartons, liners and bar wrappers as tightly as possible and place them into the large carton. Securely tape carton shut.
    • Or, stack all cartons neatly together and securely tape on all four sides. Stacked cartons taped together will act as the shipping container. Once shipping container is taped, affix the shipping label to the outside and drop at your local UPS store.

For the downloadable labels:

  1. Log into your account.
  2. On the right side, click on the my account link.
  3. Locate the "GET MAILING LABELS" tab. on the bottom left portion of the web page.
  4. Here, you will be able to view and print the bulk shipping instructions for each brigade.

Question: Does it matter which label I use for my Brigade shipments?

Answer:Yes. Your return shipping label must correspond with the specific Brigade you are collecting for. We will be unable to credit your account if the shipping label does not correspond with the specific Brigade.

Example: You CANNOT use a pre-paid drink pouch label to send in your cookie wrappers. (We will divert the waste, but you will not receive credit.)

Question: Can I sign up for every available collection program?

Answer:Yes, we encourage all participants to sign up for multiple collection programs. Please keep in mind that you must join each Brigade to collect for that waste stream.

Question: Can my school organization be the designated charity?

Answer: Absolutely! Please check with your school to determine any specifications for how the check should be issued.

There are two donation periods:

  • May through October collections: check is issued in December
  • November through April collections: check is issued in June
