Drink Pouch Brigade

Who can sign up for the Drink Pouch Brigade program?
We welcome anyone from any organization to join in on our efforts to save pouches from landfills! There are some practical considerations your organization should keep in mind. For example, our program is not designed to accommodate recycling centers. We are currently collecting only drink pouches.

Which states can participate in the TerraCycle Brigades?

TerraCycle Brigade programs are open to all U.S. States EXCEPT for ALASKA,Hawaii and Puerto Rico. If you live in Alaska ,Hawaii or Puerto Rico and sign-up for a Brigade, your account will be automatically deactivated and your location will notbe able to print or request labels. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have brigade programs running in those states and territories in the future.

What do I need to sign up for the Drink Pouch Brigade program?
Signing up for TerraCycle’s Drink Pouch Brigade is easy! All you need is a 501(c)3 charity (and the Tax ID #) that will receive your drink pouch payments. During the sign-up process, if you do not have a charity in mind, you are more than welcome to select our default charity which is “Nature Conservancy”. You will also need a valid email and mailing address.

What kind of drink pouches do you accept?
We accept any kind of brand of drink pouches. We do not accept juice boxes.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
Nope! You will be able to print pre-paid UPS shipping labels from our website through your online account.

How do I ship my drink pouches back to you?

Currently, there are 2 options for your location to send drink pouches back to TerraCycle.

Option 1 (Eco Friendly Option!):

Grab a reused box and download your pre-paid shipping return label by clicking “Get Mailing Labels” icon through the drink pouch brigade section and select the "Drink Pouch Brigade" under the drop down menu on our web site.

To prepare your shipment, fill your reused box with used drink pouches.

Note:You may want to insert a bag in the box, before filling with drink pouches to avoid excessive leakage.

Print the pre-paid label and affix to the reused box and drop off at a local UPS drop off location.

Option 2:You can also have us mail you 2 pre-paid UPS return labels by clicking “Send Me Mailing Labels.” Your pre-paid return labels will be shipped to your address. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for delivery time. Delivery times may vary depending on your location.

Do I need to clean the pouches before putting them in a box?
No, we do not require you to clean the pouches before shipping them to TerraCycle. However, you should make sure the box isn't leaking to ensure it is delivered to TerraCycle. Many locations use the following steps to make collecting the pouches easy, clean and organized:

Bag Em’ - Bag your drink pouches in sandwich bags to keep the odor and leakage locked in. A large plastic garbage bag is great to use as well for storing large quantities of drink pouches.

Store Em’ - Storing your drink pouches in a closed lid container will also help to avoid odors and unwanted insects.

How much do you credit per drink pouch?

Drink Pouches are counted based on weight using 0.009lbs. as the average weight of a drink pouch. $0.02 will be credited for each 0.009lbs of eligible drink pouches.

Please Note: As of July 30th 2010, the minimum number of pouches you can ship to TerraCycle to receive the $.02 payment per pouch is 500 pouches. If you send less than 500 pouches you will not receive the payment but we will still divert the pouches you send in.

How often does my charity get paid for my drink pouches?

TerraCycle sends payments twice a year; in December and June. Charities will receive a check in June for drink pouches received between November 1st - April 30th and charities will receive a check in December for drink pouches received between May 1st - October 31st.

I forgot to select a charity during the sign-up process. Can I still select one?

Yes, you can select a charity at anytime. Simply log into your account at www.terracycle.net and click on the purple “Benefit” tab through your profile. Select the green “change” link under “My Current Charity is…”. Select the option - “New Charity” and fill out all necessary charity information.

Note - Please keep in mind, if your charity information is not accurate or completely filled out, your charity will not receive payments.

Can I switch my designated charity?

Yes, simply log into your account at www.terracycle.net and click on the purple “Benefit” tab through your profile. Select the green “change” link under “My Current Charity is…”. Select the option - “New Charity” and fill out all necessary charity information.

Is there a minimum to how many drink pouches I can send in?

Yes, as of July 30th, 2010 you must send in 500 pouches to be able to earn the $.02/pouch. (If you think this may take a while, please see the suggestions for how to save to 500 pouches above). Sending less than 500 pouches means that your account will not be credited (though we will still diver the drink pouches).

To be clear - do not send in single shipments with less than 500 pouches, your account will not be credited.

I checked my status. Why is it in correct?

Our processing time takes roughly 1 -2 weeks. Your collection status through our website processed slightly slower and details about your collections may not be real time. Please check back frequently to see your status update. What if my account information changes or needs to be updates?

If for any reason you need to change or update information, please select the collect tab (located on your profile) and then simply click edit this team. I no longer wish to participate in the Drink Pouch Brigade, can I unsubscribe?

Please log into your account on the TerraCycle website. Select the “COLLECT” tab and then the option “Remove this Brigade” located under the Drink Pouch Brigade.
